How to Adopt

Thank you for your interest in adopting a homeless animal!

SoHumane provides a safe haven for area residents who can no longer care for their cherished pets due to health, financial, or family issues. Local residents can surrender their cat or dog to SoHumane by appointment only. The dog or cat will be evaluated by our staff for health, temperament, and behavioral issues. Some animals may need to go on a waiting list until space becomes available in our facility.

We also take in animals that face certain euthanasia at public shelters in Oregon and Northern California. At SoHumane, animals are never euthanized due to passage of time or space restrictions.

Please note that if you do not own your home, we will need to contact your landlord or property management company via phone to confirm your ability to have pets. Note, permission is still needed for mobile home parks, even if you own the home.
